Nottingham Forest and Everton climbed out of the relegation zone following their wins against Southampton and Brighton respectively on Monday night.
Brennan Johnson teed up Taiwo Awoniyi to score his first goal since facing the same opponents in January with the striker doubling both his and the hosts’ tally three minutes later. Charly Alcaraz later halved the deficit midway through the first half but Forest restored their two-goal cushion as Morgan Gibbs-White converted from the penalty spot.

The Saints struck back after the half-time interval when substitute Lyanco’s shot proved too strong for Keylor Navas to keep out but Forest consolidated their early through Danilo. Felipe appeared to have further extended that lead at the end of normal time, only for his effort to be chalked off by VAR for straying offside.
In the fifth of 11 eventual minutes’ added time, James Ward-Prowse scored a penalty after Sam Surridge was penalised for a challenge on Roméo Lavia.
Earlier in the day, Everton boosted their chances of survival with a 5-1 win at Brighton and Hove Albion with Fulham beating Leicester City 5-3 to drag the Foxes into the thick of the relegation battle.
