Swedish star man Zlatan Ibrahimovic has announced that he is retiring from football after AC Milan’s last game of the season on Sunday.

Speaking at San Siro after their 3-1 win over Verona, Ibrahimovic said: “I have many memories and many emotions here, the first time I arrived here you gave me happiness. The second time, love. I want to thank everyone, especially the fans. I will be a Milan fan for life The time has come to say goodbye to football, but not to you. See you around, if you’re lucky. Forza Milan and goodbye.”

Zlatan had joined Milan after his stint in the MLS with LA Galaxy had ended and he had joined the United States outfit after his Manchester United stint had ended rather prematurely due to a knee injury.

Apart from Milan, the 41 year old had a stellar career where he represented some of the biggest clubs in Europe including  Manchester United, Barcelona, Milan, Inter, Juventus and Ajax.

He leaves Milan after helping them to a Scudetto last season but picked up a serious knee injury after that and while he was expected to recover and feature in the 2024 Euros as his last tournament, Ibra has seen it wise to end his football now.
