Chelsea FC striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice as Gabon thrashed French fourth-tier side Olympique Saint-Quentin 7-0 in a friendly clash staged in France on Monday.

Aubameyang, who was returning for the Panthers after a one-year absence, hit the brace with Allan Do Marcolino also getting another. Other goals by Lemina, David Sambissa, and Aaron Boupendza sealed the emphatic win. Gabon will now focus on their African Cup of Nations Qualifying match against DR Congo on 18 June in Franceville.

In another friendly match staged on Monday, Morocco and Cape Verde Morocco and Cape Verde played out to a goalless draw in Rabat.

Blue Sharks goalkeeper Vozinha was the hero of the night as he made stunning saves to deny the hosts who would have easily scored through Abdelhamid Sabiri and Louza.

The friendly was part of preparations for both sides who are participating in the AFCON 2023 Qualifiers. Morocco, who have already secured a spot in the continental competition, travel to Johannesburg to face South Africa in a fifth-round qualifier on Saturday.

Cape Verde, currently second in their group with eight points, will host group leaders Burkina Faso on Sunday in Praia, aiming to secure their qualification for the finals in Cote d’Ivoire.
