Harambee Stars defender Brian Onyango Mandela has been linked with a move to DR Congo heavyweights TP Mazembe.

Onyango will be a free agent today as Mamelodi Sundowns is yet to offer him a new deal and while he has been linked with staying in South Africa, Soccer Laduma reports that Mazembe has enquired about the former Tusker FC man.

“TP Mazembe is in big ambition to sign Brian Onyango. He has been waiting for Sundowns without success. He might take the offer in DR Congo,” the tabloid noted.

Despite joining the club in 2020, Onyango has made just 40 stars for the club with only nine starts in the period; a situation that has been hampered by his injuries and the form of available defenders.

Reports earlier had emerged that Sundowns will only keep the player if he agrees to a slash of his monthly wages and while Onyango isn’t impressed by the move, he would like to stay in South Africa for the foreseeable future.

Apart from Onyango, Sundowns have already parted ways with former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates star Andile Jali. Others expected to leave are Erwin Saavedra, Rivaldo Coetzee, Katlego Mohamme, Gift Motupa and Lesedi Kapinga.
