FKF Premier League side KCB FC has confirmed the appointment of Bernard Mwalala as their new head coach.
Mwalala come in to replace Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno who left the club last month following the expiry of his contract with the club having served the bankers since June 2019.
In a statement, KCB noted:” Very pleased to announce that we have officially secured the services of super coach Bernard Mwalala as the club’s new head coach.”

Mwalala arrives at the club having left Ulinzi Stars last week on mutual consent; his place already taken by Senior Sergent Vincent Moriero Odhiambo.
The appointment of Mwalala comes as a surprise with KCB said to have settled on former Harambee Stars manager Francis Kimanzi. Pepeta had reported the same but as it turned out, there were some issues that the two parties didn’t agree on.
🙌 Very pleased to announce that we have officially secured the services of super coach Bernard Mwalala as the club's new head coach.

Apart from Kimanzi, KCB had interviewed Elvis Ayany and Kakamega Homeboyz tactician Patrick Odhiambo for the same role but the latter wanted to have more time with Homeboyz after leading them to continental football.
Mwalala arrives with a wealth of experience having previously handled Nzoia Sugar FC and Bandari FC in the FKF Premier League. He inherits a KCB side that finished fifth despite having had a proper start to the season.
The bankers will open the 2023/24 season away to Kakamega Homeboyz on August 26th, 2023.
