Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) has qualified for the quarterfinals of the Gothia Cup following their 1-0 win over Swedish side Kalma on Wednesday.
MOFA who are one of the invited academies for the showpiece opened their campaign with a scoreless draw against IFK Norrkoping but went 0-3 down to Colombia’s Deportivo Cali in their group game. The Sindo-based side however emerged 1-0 winners in their last game against Kalma to make it to the knockout stage of the competition.

In the quarterfinals, MOFA will be up against IFK Goteborg on Thursday from 5pm with coach George Owoko telling Pepeta that they will be doing all they can to make it to the semis.

“The tournament is tough because we are up against some of the best academies in the world but I like how the boys have adapted. This is a learning curve for them and we are looking forward to the quarters with the hope that we can go all the way to the finals,” Owoko told Pepeta.
Apart from MOFA, Kenya has another team in Legacy Academy who registered for the B11 category. They have won all their three group games (2-1, 20-0 and 5-0) and has a 27-1 margin in goal difference.
