The CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers have returned with both Argentina and Brazil getting beaten by Uruguay and Colombia respectively.
Two late goals from Luis Díaz saw Colombia come from behind to down Brazil 2-1 as the latter had taken the lead through Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli.

With 20 minutes to go, Diaz whose dad was released by kidnappers last week, stuck a header into the back of the net to restore parity for the hosts before popping up in the box once again less than four minutes later to head home for what proved to be the winner. The stunning win sees Colombia leapfrog Brazil and move into third place.
In another game of the night, a goal in each half was enough for Uruguay to stun Argentina 2-0 at La Bombonera.
It was the first defeat for Argentina since the 2022 World Cup who went down in the dying minutes of the first when Ronald Araújo fired home at the back post. Argentina pushed forward to find the equalizer, but they were undone by a superb pass to release Darwin Núñez in behind, who fired home with just the keeper to beat to seal all three points for the visitors.
The impressive result for Uruguay means they move up to second place in the standings, two points behind leaders Argentina.
