Alejandro Garnacho scored an overhead kick to help Manchester United beat Everton 3-0 in a Premier League game staged on Sunday evening.
The players came out to a hostile atmosphere at Goodison Park as the home crowd protested the Premier League’s decision to dock Everton 10 points for breaking Financial Fair Play rules. But the raucous home crowd was silenced inside three minutes when Diogo Dalot broke into the box and crossed to the far post for Garnacho to deliver a brilliant bicycle kick into the top corner.
Everton grew in the game and could have done better with their chances but United punished them for not being ruthless when Marcus Rashford doubled the visitors lead from the spot ten minutes into the second half before Anthony Martial ensured the points were safe 15 minutes from time.
Earlier in the day, Aston Villa came from a goal down to beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 to move into the top four at the expense of Ange Postecoglou’s men.
Despite a number of changes to their side due to injury and suspension, Spurs took the lead in the 23rd minute through Giovani Lo Celso, the Argentine midfielder hammering home past his international teammate Emi Martinez albeit with the aid of a deflection. It was the midfielder’s first Premier League goal for over three years.
Villa equalized out of nowhere in added time of the first 45, Torres making no mistake with his second headed chance of the game. Villa took the lead just after the hour with a brilliant goal from Ollie Watkins. The England striker exchanged the ball with Youri Tielemans before a quality low finish from inside the box.
