Dutch giants Ajax are known for producing youngsters for the world stage and they continued with that tradition on Thursday night.
Ajax beat Greek side AEK 3-1 in their UEFA Europa League clash and youngster Jorrel Hato made history even before a ball was kicked.
At just 17 years and 282 days, he became the youngest-ever starting captain in Ajax’s European history; the previous holder of that record was Matthijs de Ligt who achieved the same feat with the Dutch side in their impressive Champions League run recently.
The Dutchman added to the celebrations by assisting Kenneth Taylor’s goal to turn things 2-1 in favour of the hosts.
