Napoli beat Fiorentina 3-0 on Thursday night at a half-empty Al-Awwal Stadium to book a place in the Italian Supper Coppa finals.
Fiorentina dominated the ball in the opening minutes but struggled to create any chances of note with Napoli making their few chances count after having the first real threat at goal when Matteo Politano was to see his deflected shot tipped over the bar by Pietro Terracciano.
Their constant knocking paid off in the 22nd minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia showed great strength to hold off Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenković and flick the ball onto Juan Jesus. The Brazilian then played the ball towards Giovanni Simeone, who beat Terracciano with an angled drive.
Fiorentina had perfect chances to restore parity through La Viola, and Jonathan Ikoné to restore parity before halftime but all failed to make their chances count. The French forward particularly won a penalty for his side after being fouled by Mario Rui but proceeded to fire the ball high over the bar from 12 yards out.
While Fiorentina continued to prod in the second half, it was Napoli who sealed the win and their place in the Super Cup final with two late goals from substitute Alessio Zerbin, who only came on in the 82nd minute.
