Manchester United beat Newport 4-2 in an FA Cup Fourth Round tie staged on Sunday evening.
United had taken a two-goal lead through Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Maino but the hosts came back to restore matters to a 2-2. They halved the deficit before half-time through Bryn Morris and Will Evans then struck shortly after the break to equalise and spark real hope among the home fans of a monumental cup upset but goals from Anthony and Hojlund eased some pressure off manager Erik ten Hag.

It is a competition that represents United’s only hope of finishing the season with some silverware, but the build-up to the match was largely dominated by talk of Marcus Rashford’s absence, with the forward missing the match due to illness, having been absent from training on Friday just hours after reportedly attending a nightclub in Belfast.
Attention for United now shifts to the Premier League where they have a date against Wolves on Thursday before coming up against West Ham on Sunday in games that might determine the future of Ten Hag at the club.
