Arsenal beat Nottingham Forest 2-1 to narrow the gap between them and Premier League leaders Liverpool to two points.

The Gunners started fairly sluggishly and weren’t able to break the host’s defence in the first half with Mikel Arteta having handed midfielder Emile Smith Rowe his first league start since October but the midfielder was struggling to find those half-spaces to influence the game.

The visitors were to be rewarded for all their possession on 65 minutes as Gabriel Jesus sneaked in around the Forest defence and beat Turner at his near post. Bukayo Saka got his goal as Forest pushed for an equaliser with the England winger capitalizing on a defence mistake and firing in a low effort.

The hosts halved the deficit with one minute of normal time remaining as Taiwo Awoniyi finished with a poachers’ instinct for a tense finish but the Mikel Arteta side held on for the three points.

Elsewhere, Eli Adebayo made history as he became the first-ever Luton player to score a Premier League hat-trick in their 4-0 drubbing of Brighton.

The Hatters needed just 20 seconds to take the lead as Adebayo finished from close range. They doubled their lead just a few moments later as Chiedozie Ogbene beat the offside trap and tapped in past the onrushing Luke Steele.

The hosts grabbed a third just before half-time as Adebayo netted his second of the evening to stun Brighton going into the break and got his hat-trick just before the hour mark with another striker’s finish.
