Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga made his second appearance since returning from injury as Al Duhail went 0-2 down to Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg FC on Monday evening in the Equality Cup friendly tournament.

Zenit took an 11th-minute lead through Claudinho with Artur doubling their tally in the 72nd minute.

It was the second loss for Duhail after going 0-1 down to Chinese side Shangai Shenhua in their opener staged five days ago.

The tournament is a collaboration between Aspire Zone Foundation with Zenit Saint Petersburg FC and it is being played at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club, Qatar.

The tournament has four teams; current Qatar Stars League title holders Al Duhail, along with Brazil’s Santos, China’s Shanghai Shenhua and Russia’s Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The matches will continue Thursday, Feb. 8, with Zenit Saint Petersburg facing Shanghai Shenhua, while Santos will face Al Duhail on Friday. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday, Feb 13 with Zenit Saint Petersburg facing Santos. If any match ends in a draw after normal time, the result will be decided by a penalty shootout with no extra time.

Duhail is using the tournament as part of their preparation as they gear to return to league action where they are scheduled to take on Muaither on February 15th, 2024.
