Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga bagged a brace as Al Duhail returned to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Muaither in Qatar’s Stars League on Wednesday evening.
The Kenyan opened the scoring proceedings in the eighth minute after being put through by Sultan Al Brake but Hugo Gomes restored parity for the hosts in the 23rd minute. Ali Moez thought he had regained Duhail’s lead five minutes from half time but El Hassouni ensured that both teams went to the break tied at 2-2.
Former Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho regained Duhail’s lead just a minute after the resumption with Olunga being his provider before the Brazilian returned the favour to the Kenyan ten minutes from time for a 4-2 scoreline. Rashid Al Abdulla wasn’t done yet with Muaither as he hit the final nail in the hosts coffin with a fifth goal a minute from time.
The win saw Duhail rise to fifth on the table with 28 points after 20 games, 15 points below leaders Al Sadd who has played a game less.
