Liverpool crashed out of the UEFA Europa League despite beating Atalanta 1-0 in their match staged on Thursday night in Italy.

The Reds came in to the game on a back of a 0-3 loss and started brightly when they earned a penalty in the earlier stages of the game which was tucked in by Mo Salah; but that was the only goal that they were to get in the game.

Another Italian team in AS Roma made it to the semi finals of the competition at the expense of Serie A rivals AC Milan.

The opening was found before the 15 minute mark when Gianluca Mancini continued his red-hot form, tapping home from close-range after an initial shot went off the post. It went from good to great for the home side when Paulo Dybala lashed in a curler from outside of the box to double Roma’s lead on the night.

West Ham were eliminated from the competition despite a 1-1 draw against Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Michail Antonio rose above the Leverkusen defence to head home a cross and snatch a lead for West Ham on the night, reducing their aggregate deficit to just one.

Jeremie Frimpong had the chance to end the tie in the final 10 minutes after dashing in behind the West Ham defence, but the wing-back somehow sent his effort high and wide with only the keeper to beat. Only moments later however, Leverkusen and Frimpong found their goal to all but end the tie and preserve their unbeaten streak.
