Young Africans (Yanga) SC have won the Tanzania Premier League following their 3-1 over Mtibwa Sugar FC on Monday.
It’s the 30th time Yanga have won the league title and a third consecutive Premier League title with the previous ones coming in 2021/22, 2022/23 seasons and this season with the win seeing them qualify for the CAF Champions League where they hope to go all the way after a near miss in the last two seasons.

The win over Mtibwa in Morogoro on Monday saw them pick their 71st point; a tally that can’t be matched by any team in the competition with the league heading to its homestretch.
In the game, Mtibwa took a 32nd-minute lead through Charles Ilanfya but Kennedy Musonda restored parity in the 63rd minute. Nasir Kombo tucked the ball in his own net four minutes later to give Yanga the lead before Clement Mzize ensured the points were safe with a goal nine minutes from time.
The result spelt doom for Mtibwa who currently sit at the bottom of the league with 20 points from 27 games and can only reach 29 points if they win their remaining matches.
Yanga’s next test will be against Dodoma Jiji at the Jamuhuri Stadium on May 22nd after which they’ll host Tabora before ending their season at the Azam Complex against Tanzania prisons.
