Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga is on the verge of buying Swedish third-tier side AFC Eskilstuna.
Eskilstuna owes their municipality over SEK 500,000 (sh 6M) and has been stopped from using municipal facilities. In addition, the Agency for Growth requires the club to pay back SEK 3.3 million (sh 41m) after short-term support was paid out during the pandemic.

Reports from Eskilstuna-Kuriren indicate that Olunga is close to taking over the club and stepping in with 4 million kroner (sh 50M) to clean up the existing debts.
The reports further indicate that talks are ongoing between AFC’s former sporting director Mikael Larsson and Olunga where Larsson is expected to return to the post as sporting director as part of the deal.
Olunga is not new to Sweden as he previously represented Djugardens IF, who has had a good relationship with Eskilstuna by offering them players on loan deals; Kenyan Frank Odhiambo being a beneficiary of this partnership. Apart from Odhiambo, former Tusker FC striker Henry Meja is also part of the team and scored his first goal for the club over the weekend.
According to figures from Salary Sport, Olunga is on £37500 (Apprx sh 6M) a week wage at Al Duhail so the sh 50M is something he can offer.
