Omurwa has found games hard to come by at Estrela recently

Portuguese top flight side CF Estrela da Amadora has waved goodbye to Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa.

Omurwa’s deal with the side ended on June 30th 2024 after extending his deal by another year at the start of last season; the move coming after he helped the team to promotion.

“Thank you for everything, Johnstone,” Amadora said in a statement posted across all their social media handles.

Omurwa’s first season with the club when they were still in the Portuguese second tier saw him only make seven appearances with 6 being starts. Last season, in the top flight, he managed 15 games under his belt with 13 being starts and was yellow carded on three occasions.

The player who has been a key figure for the national team Harambee Stars has been linked with a move to Tanzania giants Simba SC even though there are other reports indicating that he would love to stay in Europe.

Locally, the center-back has featured for Mathare United and Wazito FC and had a trial period with Israeli club Sektzia Ness Ziona FC before his move to Portugal.
