Harambee Stars winger Timothy Ouma scored as IF Elfsborg beat Pafos 5-2 on Thursday evening to qualify to the next round of UEFA Europa League Qualifiers.

Elfsborg arrived in the tie with a healthy 3-0 lead from the first leg and Ouma stretched the lead to 4-0 on aggregate when he opened the scoring proceedings after 22 minutes. Hosts Pafos were never going to let things easily and equalized via a Holmen own goal and took the lead three minutes to half time from Dragomir for a 2-1 lead at the break.

But on resumption, Elfsborg showed no mercy for the hosts in front of their fans at the Alphamega Stadium when Michael Baidoo restored parity on the night just two minutes after the break with Andri Baldursson extending the visitors’ lead a minute later.

Jalal Abdullai and a late goal from Arber Zeneli ensured that Elfsborg made it to the second preliminary round of the competition with an 8-2 aggregate but attention for them now shifts to the league where they have a date with Mjallby on Sunday 20, 2024.

In the Thursday game, Ouma only managed to play in the first half with his place taken by Zeneli as a precaution for another card after the Kenyan was booked earlier in the first half.
