In an interview with the club’s media team, Matano revealed that he had signed a one-year deal with the Elly Kalekwa side and that his main aim was to stabilize the team.

“Sofapaka feels like home so Im glad to be here. I know there are many expectations but my main aim to stabilize the team fast because they haven’t been doing well and we can now start planning after the stability,” he said.

“I had a team in Zimbabwe but decided to come here. Sofapaka is like my child and when you see your child suffering, you lift them up. We need to get a few players to help us with stability in the new season.”

Matano was in charge of Sofapaka when they won the Kenyan top-flight title in their debut season in 2009 and returned to the club after his contract with Tusker FC expired.
