2023/24 FKF Women Premier League champions Kenya Police Bullets have been placed in Group A of the 2024 CAF Women Champions League of the CECAFA Zone.
Bullets will square out alongside Ethiopia giants CBE, Rwanda’s Rayon Sports, Yei Joint Stars of South Sudan and Warriors Queens from Tanzania in the regional showpiece that will take place between August 17 and September 1 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Group B involves 2022 champions Tanzania’s Simba Queens, PVP Buyenzi from Burundi, Kawempe Muslim Ladies of Uganda and FAD Djibouti.
The Kenyan heavyweights will be making their maiden debut in the competition for the first time since being renamed from Thika Queens in 2023 and they will be the second women’s club from Kenya to feature in the tournament after Vihiga Queens FC.
The law enforcers have already hit back to camp last week in preparation for the tourney and have already brought in some new faces to beef up their squad. Some of the players already unveiled include; Emily Moranga and Anne Norah from Vihiga Queens, Kenya U-20 captain Jane Hato from Mathare United Women and Bertha Omita from India’s Sethu FC. Experienced custodian Samatha Okeya who plays for Zetech Sparks is also in talks with the Beldine Odemba led-side for a potential switch.
The overall winner from the CECAFA zone will represent the region in the finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
