South Africa Premier Soccer League side Supersport United are yet to decide on the fate of Harambee Stars defender Brian Onyango Mandela.

Mandela is a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns last month and has been training with Supersport but the team is yet to decide his fate and that of Sibusiso Vilakazi who like Onyango, has been training with the team after being dropped by Sekhukhune United.

The duo are not part of the team that has travelled to Botswana for preseason training and according to iDiski, coach Gavin Hunt is still weighing his options in signing the duo.

“Onyango recently left Sundowns as a free agent after the club opted against extending his stay, while Vilakazi suffered a similar fate at Sekhukhune United, leaving the club a month after his contract was not renewed.

“The duo is said to have been training with Matsatsantsa for over three weeks, though they were not part of the SuperSport squad that travelled to Botswana for pre-season. In fact, they remained behind and continued training with other players who are still recovering,” the tabloid noted.

Hunt has already roped in three new faces in Vincent Pule, Nyiko Mobbie, and Pogiso Sanoka ahead of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season but there is a possibility that they will add more new players before kicking off their season with an MTN8 fixture against Orlando Pirates on August 3.
