Former Gor Mahia striker Meddie Kagere has come out to rubbish rumours claiming that he was set to retire from football.
The 37-year-old who has spent a chunk of his career in Tanzania recently signed a one-year contract with Namungo FC while speaking to the Times of Rwanda claimed that he will still be playing as he feels he still has a lot to give in the game.

“I still have more years in football. I just have to continue working hard because it’s only God that holds our future,” Kagere said.
Having played in various leagues in East Africa, the Rwandese has waded into the debate on which league is currently on top of the region by claiming that Tanzania currently tops that roster.
“Tanzania is more competitive compared to other leagues in East Africa. The country always has many clubs competing in the Champions League and the Confederations Cup, and they have been doing better,” he remarked.
In the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons, Kagere was the top scorer in the Tanzanian League, scoring 23 and 22 goals respectively.
Born in Kampala on October 10, 1986, Kagere formally started his football career at Mbale Heroes where he played from 2004 to 2006 before joining the now-defunct Atraco FC in Rwanda.
His sojourn has seen him represent Mbale Heroes FC, Kibuye FC, ATRACO FC, Kiyovu Sports, Mukura Victory Sports & Loisirs, Police FC, ES Zarzis, Rayon Sports, Albanian side KF Tirana and Gor Mahia F.C.
