Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga opened his season with a hattrick as Al Duhail thrashed Qatar SC 6-1 on Saturday in the Qatar Stars League.

Olunga bagged a first-half brace in a span of three minutes between the 41st and 44th minute. Malango pulled a goal back earlier in the second half but Ismael Mohammed restored Duhail’s two-goal cushion with a strike of his own in the 69th minute.

Mohammed then scored the visitors fourth eight minutes from time but Abdullah Al Ahrak and Olunga still had time to extend the lead to six goals.

The huge goal difference means that Duhail will spend round One of the league at the top having been one of the three teams to win on the penning day; others being Al Rayyan and Al Shamal.

On Saturday, in England, Zech Obiero featured for Leyton Orient in their 1-2 loss to Bolton Wanders in League One with Clarke Oduor coming from the bench to help Bradford City to a 2-1 win over MK Dons in League. It was a complete game for defender Zack Vyner as they began their Championship season with a 1-1 draw against Hull City.

In Germany Tobby Knost featured in Verl’s 1-1 draw against Alemannia Aachen in the country’s 3. Liga as Josephat Kopago made his debut for Naftan as they battled to a 1-1 draw against BATE in Belarus.

Midfielder Richard Odada was part of Dundee United team who recorded a 1-1 draw against Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

On Sunday, Jonah Ayunga featured as St. Mirren went 3-1 down to Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership with Collins Sichenje featuring making his league bow in Serbia when Vojvodina went 1-3 down to TSC.

Timothy Ouma played the entire game as Elsborg’s impressive start to the season continued with a 2-1 win over GAIS with Faiz Opande and Nabby Kibunguchy featuring for Huntsville and Orlando City respectively in the MLS Next Pro.
