Kenya international goalkeeper Ian Aubrey Otieno has confirmed his departure from Zambia’s top-tier club, Zesco United FC barely a fortnight after another Kenyan striker Jesse Were left the club.

The shot-stopper ended affairs with the Zambian giants following the expiry of his four-year deal with the club, the former AFC Leopards keeper revealed via Facebook.

“Zega family, the time has come for me to say thank you. Four years ago, I joined this wonderful and massive team and I enjoyed every minute since. I’m leaving a happy man knowing that I wore and defended the jersey with utmost pride and dedication”, Otieno stated.

In his farewell to the Zesco United supporters, the netminder expressed his gratitude for the immense motivation they gave him during his time with their club.

“A massive shoutout t to every loyal supporter out there who pushed us even when things hit a snag. The truth is that I LOVE YOU and I know and hope I’m leaving with all your blessings and support even as I embark on this journey”, he added.

Otieno joined the Ndola-based outfit in 2020 from Red Arrows FC on a four-year contract. During his tenure with “Zega”, he guided the club to one Super League and a Charity Shield title in his debut season at the club.

Otieno has already been roped by South Africa Premier Soccer League side Richards Bay where he signed a two-year deal.
