Kenya will be among the countries that will participate in the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations U-20 CECAFA Qualifiers.

The competition which will take place from October 6-20th, 2024 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania has attracted nine teams with the finalists set to represent the East Africa region in the continental showpiece set for next year.

Yusuf Mossi, the CECAFA Competitions Manager, while speaking about the preparations of the tournament said; “We are going to conduct the draw on Thursday in Dar es Salaam with five teams in one group and four in the other group. The best two teams will qualify to represent the Zone at the AFCON U-20 tournament to be played next year.”

Apart from Somalia and Eritrea, the Member Associations that have confirmed participation of their teams include; Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.

At the last AFCON U-20 Zonal qualifiers 2022 Uganda beat South Sudan 2-1 in the final held at Sudan’s Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman, Khartoum.

The Kenya Under 20 team is currently under the tutelage of Kenya Police FC coach Salim Babu and converged last in June this year for the Four Nations Tournament in preparations for the showpiece.
