Gor Mahia’s new Ghanaian midfielder, Enock Morrison, is already making waves after a standout performance against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.
Despite Gor going 0-3 down to the Egyptian giants, Morrison has earned widespread praise from the club fans and while he acknowledged the support, he was quick to express his disappointment in losing the tie.

“First, I want to thank the Almighty. Unfortunately, we couldn’t win as a team to fully appreciate the love and support from our fans. However, I feel proud of the contribution I made with the support of my teammates and coaches,” the midfielder said after the game.
“It’s a great feeling to be recognized, but as a young player, you have to stay grounded. It’s good to receive praise, but I remain humble and focused on my goals,” he added.
After the match, Al Ahly’s delegation approached Morrison, sparking speculation about a potential move. When asked about this, Morrison stayed diplomatic.
“I wouldn’t like to say too much about that. I have a two-year contract with Gor Mahia, and that is where my focus lies for now,” he noted. “Al Ahly is the best club in Africa and highly regarded in Europe. Every player dream of playing for such a club, but right now, I’m concentrating on winning trophies for Gor Mahia.”
Though he’s only just joined Gor Mahia, Morrison is no stranger to playing for big clubs. Having come from Ghanaian powerhouse Asante Kotoko, he’s accustomed to the pressure of performing at a high level hence his outing against Al Ahly.
“I’ve played for one of the biggest clubs in Ghana and Africa, Asante Kotoko, which comes with a lot of pressure, so I’m used to it,” he explained, underscoring his experience on the African stage.
Morrison has featured only in the CAF Champions League since joining, with Gor Mahia yet to play any league games. But the midfielder is confident in his development and ability to contribute.
“As a footballer, you always need to work on every aspect of your game. I keep working hard to improve,” he emphasized.
Looking ahead to the second leg against Al Ahly in Egypt, Morrison remains optimistic despite the challenging task of overturning the 3-0 deficit.
“We’re going to give it another go. This time, we’ve learned from our mistakes, and we hope to achieve a better result in Egypt,” he added.
As for his upcoming Kenya Premier League debut, Morrison is eager to showcase his talent and contribute to the team’s success.
“I expect strong performances and victories,” he declared, adding that hard work is key to maintaining his form. “I believe in hard work, so I will continue putting in the effort to stay in top form.”
As a newcomer, Morrison has adapted quickly to life at Gor Mahia, crediting his teammates and coaches for helping him settle in.
“I’ve adapted very well because we have great players and coaches here,” he shared, expressing confidence in the squad’s ability to compete at the highest level.
The Ghanaian midfielder mentioned an FKF Premier League fixture he’s most excited for, and Morrison pointed to Kenya’s biggest football fixture.
“I’m looking forward to the Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards,” he revealed, highlighting the excitement and intensity that comes with playing in the iconic clash.
