Harambee Stars defender Johnstone Omurwa finally made his Abha debut as they battled to a 1-1 draw against Al Taawuon in the King’s Cup.

The player who joined the Saudi Arabia second-tier side earlier in the month featured in the entire game as they went down 3-2 in extra time.

Al Taawuon had taken a 21st-minute lead through Flavio and were headed for a win in normal time before Ahmed Abdu restored parity deep in stoppage time to send the game to extra time. Joao Pedro regained Taawoun’s lead in the 92nd minute before Mohammed Al Kuwaykibi extended that lead in extra time to render Ahmed Abdu’s strike late on as a mere consolation.

With the loss, Omurwa will now hope to get more playing time in the coming games for his club starting with this weekend’s league tie against Al Faisaly.

In Norway, Alfred Scriven managed 88 minutes as Bryne came from a goal down to beat Sogndal 3-2 in the country’s second tier. The win saw them reduce the gap between them and leaders Valerenga to nine points as they seek automatic promotion to the top flight next season.

In Tanzania, John Mark Makwatta scored his first league goal for Coastal Union as they went 2-1 down to JKT Tanzania with Duke Abuya started for Yanga SC in their 1-0 win over Ken Gold.
