Kenyan coaching veteran Robert Matano has promised to help Fountain Gate FC achieve its ambitions as he begins his tenure with the Tanzanian Premier League side.
Known for his ability to transform smaller clubs into competitive teams, Matano expressed confidence in his ability to guide Fountain Gate to greater heights having joined the club from Kenyan side Sofapaka.

“I’m happy to be here. Fountain Gate FC is a good team I’ve been following for some time. It’s a club with ambitions to grow, and that aligns with my experience of working with teams and helping them progress. I specialize in taking small clubs and lifting them to greater heights,” Matano said during his unveiling.
This appointment marks Matano’s first coaching stint outside Kenya, a challenge he is eager to embrace. “It’s a new challenge for me, but I’m ready. I’ve been in football for a long time, faced different challenges, and I’m prepared to do my best here,” he noted.
Matano also called on fans to rally behind the team, emphasizing their role in its success. “Let the fans remain calm and push the team forward. It’s all about teamwork. I encourage them to stay positive, support the players, and come out in good numbers. They should expect good results because their support will be instrumental in the team’s success.”
With his track record of building competitive teams, Fountain Gate fans will be hopeful that Matano can bring the same energy and success to the club as they aim for a strong second leg in the Tanzanian Premier League, the club is currently 6th in the NBC Premier League with 20 points.
