Kenyan wing-back Vincent Harper featured for 69 minutes as Exeter City suffered a 4-1 defeat to Stevenage on Saturday, marking their third consecutive loss in League One.

Despite a promising start, where Exeter took the lead early in the match, the Grecians were unable to hold onto their advantage and fell to another heavy defeat.

Exeter made an impressive beginning to the match when Josh Magennis converted a penalty in the second minute, following a handball from Stevenage’s Eli King. However, the hosts responded quickly, equalizing in the 11th minute through a low strike from King, before Jordan Roberts gave Stevenage the lead just six minutes later.

As the game progressed, Stevenage gained control, with goals from Dan Kemp, and a brace from Roberts in the second half, securing the 4-1 victory. Despite several chances for Exeter, including a close-range shot blocked by Stevenage’s defense and a series of corners that threatened the hosts’ goal, the visitors couldn’t break down their opponents’ defense.

Harper’s performance was one of the highlights for Exeter, as he was involved in breaking up several of Stevenage’s attacking plays, most notably an interception to halt a counter-attack. However, Exeter’s defense ultimately couldn’t withstand Stevenage’s persistent pressure, leaving them with little to show for their efforts.

The defeat, coupled with recent struggles, leaves Exeter looking to regroup and bounce back in their next match. Harper, a key figure for the team, will look to build on his performances and help his side recover from their current slump.
