Harambee Stars winger Adam Wilson continued his impressive run of form, scoring the decisive goal as The New Saints (TNS) secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Caernarfon Town at The Oval.

The win extended TNS’s lead at the top of the JD Cymru Premier table to nine points, strengthening their grip on the title race.

Wilson produced the match-winning moment in the 21st minute in a tightly contested affair. Picking up the ball 25 yards from goal, the on-loan Bradford City winger weaved past three defenders before unleashing a powerful left-footed strike into the far corner. His clinical finish proved to be the difference on a night where clear-cut chances were limited for both sides.

The early stages saw The New Saints dictate possession and create the first real opportunity in the 8th minute. Ryan Brobbel’s well-delivered free-kick found defender Danny Davies, but his header was brilliantly saved by Caernarfon goalkeeper Ben Hughes.

Despite Wilson’s breakthrough goal, the remainder of the first half saw limited goalmouth action. The home side threatened late in the half, with Ben Clark heading wide in the 40th minute and Adam Davies forcing a rare opening for Caernarfon just before the break.

Caernarfon came out strongly in the second half, with Louis Lloyd coming close to an equaliser from a free-kick, but his effort found the side netting. TNS continued to press for a second goal, with Brobbel’s free-kick effort saved in the 57th minute.

Wilson, a constant threat throughout the game, nearly doubled his tally in the 73rd minute, forcing Hughes into a smart save with a long-range effort. The Caernarfon shot-stopper was in fine form, denying Wilson again in stoppage time after the Kenyan international had stolen possession from a throw-in.

Despite Caernarfon’s late push for an equaliser, TNS held firm to claim all three points, making it nine wins in nine league matches. Craig Harrison’s side took another major step towards securing their record-extending 17th league title.

With the league momentum in their favour, TNS now shift their focus to the JD Welsh Cup, where they face Airbus UK Broughton in the quarter-finals this Saturday, February 15th. The match at Park Hall kicks off at 2 PM, as The Saints look to continue their dominance on multiple fronts.

Wilson’s match-winning performance further cements his growing influence at TNS, and with his fine form, he remains a player to watch in the title run-in.
