Kenyan international Adam Wilson has won his first major silverware of the year after helping The New Saints (TNS) clinch the Nathaniel MG Cup for a record-extending 11th time.

TNS secured a 1-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town in the final at Latham Park on Friday evening, successfully defending the title they won last season.

The decisive moment of the match came in the 48th minute when Aramide Oteh found the back of the net after a well-worked move down the right flank. Despite pressure from Aberystwyth Town’s defenders, Oteh managed to squeeze his shot past goalkeeper Dave Jones at the near post.

TNS dominated possession from the onset, creating multiple chances but were frustrated by Aberystwyth’s defensive resilience. Danny Redmond, Leo Smith, and Dan Williams all came close to scoring in the first half, with Oteh even hitting the post in the 34th minute. However, Aberystwyth held firm to keep the score level at halftime.

In the second half, Craig Harrison’s men maintained control, limiting Aberystwyth’s attacking opportunities while continuing to push forward. Danny Davies and Sion Bradley had opportunities to extend the lead, but their efforts missed the target. Adam Wilson was withdrawn in the 74th minute of the match. Despite the narrow scoreline, TNS remained comfortable throughout, sealing back-to-back league Cup titles.

Adam Wilson will now shift his focus to the JD Cymru Premier, where The Saints are in contention for another domestic title. Their next match is scheduled for Saturday, March 8th, as they aim to strengthen their lead at the top of the table.
