Harambee Stars winger Adam Wilson was the standout performer as The New Saints (TNS) thrashed Cardiff Metropolitan University 6-0 at Cyncoed Campus on Sunday.

Wilson netted a hat-trick in a dominant display, helping TNS secure their 15th consecutive victory in all competitions. The Saints got off to a flying start, with Wilson opening the scoring just four minutes into the match. A well-worked team move saw him receive a pass from Connor Roberts before calmly finishing from close range.

Wilson, who has been in fine form, doubled his tally in the 33rd minute with a moment of brilliance. After collecting a pass from Zack Clarke, the on-loan Bradford City winger cut inside from the right and curled a superb left-footed effort into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper helpless.

Just after the break, in the 52nd minute, Wilson completed his hat-trick in style. Driving into the box from the right, he beat the goalkeeper at the near post with a well-placed shot, securing his second hat-trick in a TNS shirt.

While Wilson stole the headlines, his teammates also got in on the act. Aramide Oteh capitalized on a defensive error in the 50th minute to score his 13th league goal of the season. Zack Clarke added a fifth in the 66th minute after being played through by Sion Bradley, before Louis Phillips rounded off the scoring in the 79th minute with a well-taken finish after Bradley’s initial effort was parried.

Wilson, who was absent from Kenya’s recent World Cup qualifiers, will be eager to maintain his fine form and catch the attention of new Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy ahead of crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Seychelles and The Gambia set for September at home.

With yet another emphatic victory, The New Saints maintain their dominance at the top of the JD Cymru Premier. They will now shift their focus to a top-of-the-table clash against Penybont next weekend.
