Sudan Premier League side Al Hilal are out of the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League after going 1-0 down to Al Ahly in a match played at the Cheikha Ould Boïdiya Stadium in Nouakchott, Mauritania.

The Egyptian giants qualified on a 2-0 goal aggregate, having won the first leg 1-0. After a goalless first half, Emam Ashour netted the lone goal for Al Ahly against the run of play after 80 minutes.

Al Hilal’s defeat marked the end of a team from the CECAFA Zone in the competition. Another Egyptian side Pyramids also sailed through to the semi-final stage on a 4-3 goal aggregate.

Former champions Mamelodi Sundowns also made it through after holding ES Tunis to a goalless draw in another match on Tuesday night. Sundowns had won 1-0 in the first leg staged in South Africa a week ago.

Orlando Pirates will be hoping to make it to the semi-finals too when they take on MC Alger in South Africa on Wednesday having won 1-0 in the first leg of the fixture.
