Clarke Oduor made his debut for Grimsby United as they eliminated Manchester United from the Carabao Cup on post-match penalties on Wednesday evening.
After a 2-2 draw in regular time, Grimsby were to emerge 12-11 winners in post match penalties with everyone having taken a spot kick.
United coach Ruben Amorim had made a series of changes to the team that drew against Fulham over the weekend but nothing seems to have changed as the home side hit the crossbar in the earlier minutes.

And if the warning wasn’t enough, United found themselves behind when Charles Vernam found himself in space in the penalty area after the visitors defence had gone to sleep to blast the ball at Andre Onana’s near post.
Grimsby then went 2-0 up when Onana came out for a cross and completely missed the ball which fell to Grimsby’s Tyrell Warren who tapped into an empty net.
United made three changes at the break with one of the new faces Bryan Mbeumo pulling a goal back with less than twenty minutes remaining on the clock before Harry Maguire header in the near post in the dying minutes restpred parity but drama was left in the post match penalties.
In the shootout, Oduor missed his penalty to hand United the advantage but Matheus Cunha missed his decisive spot for United. And with everyone tucking in their efforts including the keepers, United were to be eliminated from the competition after Mbeumo missed his second kick of the night.
