Nuno Espírito Santo has become the first managerial causality this season after parting ways with Nottingham Forest.

The 51-year-old Portuguese manager has been relieved of his duties short of reaching two years in charge of the club.

A statement confirming the manager’s departure from the club noted, “Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espírito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as Head Coach.

“The Club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at The City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the Club. As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey.”

Despite guiding the former European Champion back to continental competition, the decision comes in the wake of his admission that the relationship with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis had soured.

It has been hinted that Marinakis has been considering a change ever since the public comments surfaced, while Nuno’s reported falling out with Edu offered another layer to the tension bubbling in the East Midlands.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been touted as his possible replacement.
