The 91st league Mashemeji Derby between arch-rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards ended in a 1-1 draw on Sunday 8, May 2022.
Leopards had come into the game as the better side and took the lead through Victor Omune in the 28th minute much to the delight of their numerous visiting fans who had made their way into the MISC Kasarani.

Gor who had not lost this fixture to their rivals since 2016 was not going to relent and restored parity six minutes after resumption through Benson Omala’s whose first half goal had been chopped off after an offside call. The win takes Gor to fourth on the log with 47 points, nine behind leaders Kakamega Homeboyz who lost 2-0 to Tusker FC on the same day.
Homeboyz arrived at Ruaraka with a four-point lead over Tusker but the Robert Matano-coached side ensured that the lead was sliced to one point after beating their visitors 2-0 thanks to goals from Ibrahim Joshua and Geogracious Ojok late on.
In another game, KCB ended their three-match losing streak with a 2-2 draw against FC Talanta. The bankers found themselves two goals down after Dennis Oalo and Edwin Lavatsa had given the Ken Kenyatta a two-goal lead but Enock Agwanda and John Mwangi ensured the bankers earned a point from the fixture.
Earlier in the day, newbies Vihiga Bullets had come from two goals down to beat Kariobangi Sharks 4-3 in an entertaining clash held at the Kasarani Annex.
