Nzoia Sugar head coach Salim Babu believes the win against Sofapaka gives them the much-needed morale booster heading into next weekend’s tie against KCB.
The millers managed to record their first win after a draw and a loss in their first two games and according to Babu, scoring a goal against the David Ouma side is a sign of good tidings despite asking his players to score more in the coming games.

“If you are keen on my last two interviews my worry has been with the lack of goals and I’m glad we managed to do that today (on Saturday). We’ve been playing well and even in the first two games, we were just unlucky not to have collected maximum points. I am just glad the goal finally went in and we won but I hope it’s an area we improve on more because we are still not there yet with the finishing aspect. It has to improve heading into the season” Babu noted after the Sofapaka win.
The coach was also quick to laud the impact of Steve Otieno who was returning after an injury layoff.
“He (Steve) is an important player for us and we are glad to have him back. I’m impressed with how he played when he came on and we are looking forward to him having a good season,” he added.
On KCB, Babu said: “They are a good side but we are going to prepare this week in accordance with what we expect from them. There are no easy games in the league and we will have to be at our best each time to get the required results.”
