Tusker FC captain Humphrey Mieno hailed the team spirit after managing a goalless draw against Nzoia Sugar FC in week nine of the FKF Premier League.

Tusker played more than half an hour of the game with ten men after defender Tom Teka was shown his marching orders on his debut and according to Mieno, his teammates gave their all despite the dent and could have even scored.

“Playing with ten men against a team like Nzoia who have started the season well isn’t an easy thing. I think we did well and despite us wanting to win the game, I will count this as a point gained owing to the circumstances we were in. We even created chances despite being a man less and on any other day this is a match we could have won,” Mieno told Pepeta.

The draw against Nzoia means that the brewers are now winless in their last two games and despite this being a worry, Mieno has urged his teammates to have the mental toughness heading into the next game as they seek to defend their title.

“The games are coming tough and thick but there is no cause for an alarm because of our two last games. We know our abilities and it’s that time again where the team will need to be tough mentally heading into our next games if we are to win games,” he added.

Tusker still sits at the top of the league with 19 points but will closely be watching over KCB and Nzoia who are both on 18 points.
