The ninth week of the FKF Premier League season 2022/23 took place this past weekend with a total of nine games taking place.
While teams are fighting to shape up with games coming faster and thicker, the race to the golden boot is something that is proving to be enticing with the week seeing FC Talanta’s Brian Yakhama closing the gap between him and the leading scorers after grabbing a hattrick in their 3-2 win over Mathare United.

The Slum boys who are still in search of their first win of the season were to get their goals from Donald Ange and Lennox Ogutu in a game that they had led twice only to be undone in the last minute of the game.
The first match of the week however took place in Kasarani where Nairobi City Stars recorded their first win over the season following their 2-1 win over Sofapaka FC. Ronny Manga had put the Batoto ba Mungu into the lead via a penalty but goals from Ezekiel Odera and Andrew Kisilu ensured that coach Nicholas Muyoti was accorded some breathing space as he angles to bounce back from his torrid start to the season.
Ten-man Bidco United shocked Posta Rangers 2-1 after playing the last 12 minutes with a man less. Eric Gichimu bagged his second goal of the season when he put the Japheth Akhulia side into the lead but seasonal striker Timothy Otieno equalized for Rangers. Ezekiel Okare was to notch the winner for Bidco after beating the offside trap for the club’s second win in a row.
