Ulinzi Stars assistant coach Abdalla ‘Dalo’ Mohammed has urged players to respect referees’ decisions after his troop vehemently rebuked the penalty awarded when they face Nzoia Sugar FC over the weekend.
Ulinzi had taken the lead through Boniface Muchiri minutes after the hour mark but their opponents were awarded a penalty eight minutes from time before the visitors came up with a winner five minutes later.

While Dalo disputed the penalty, he wasn’t impressed at how his players lost concentration owing to the complaints they lodged with the center referee.
“Ill accept the referees’ situation due to the place our football is currently as a country. To me, it wasn’t a penalty but he (the referee) had given it so our players too have to learn how to deal with such setbacks because it’s through the complaints that saw them lose concentration and concede a second goal later on,” Dalo said in his post-match comments.
On the game, Dalo felt their opponents were the better side from the onset and blamed fatigue for their recent performances in the league.
“I’ll positively take the loss because I am a sportsperson. To be honest, Nzoia played football from the start to finish and was a bit relaxed today as a coach I have accepted they were the better side. We were down and I want to say I think it’s the fatigue of playing so many games in the past weeks. Mine is to go back to the drawing board and ensure that we win our next match,” he added.
Ulinzi are now winless in their last three games and are placed sixth with 20 points after 13 games.
