Kariobangi Sharks ended their five-game winless streak with a 2-0 win over Sofapaka FC in an FKF Premier League game staged at the Kasarani Annex on Friday 24th February 2023.
Sofapaka had been in turmoil of their own having lost their last two games against Bidco United and KCB and the Friday meeting was made worse with the fact that they had only beaten Sharks once in their last 12 encounters.

While they were able to hold on for a scoreless draw in the first half, their resilience was to be breached three minutes into the second half by Sigumunn Maina. A nice interchange of passes between Tyson Otieno and Maina saw the former set the latter for an easy goal with the visitors’ defence having failed to track the player.

Moses Shikanda was to double Sharks’ lead with 15 minutes remaining on the clock. The midfielder had intercepted a short pass from Roy Okal that had been directed to David Otieno before squaring the ball to the onrushing Tyson whose effort was punched by Sofapaka keeper Kevin Omondi only for Shikanda to burry the rebound.
The win propelled Sharks to 11th position with 20 points with Sofapaka remaining 13th with 18 points.
