After a weekend of FKF Cup games, the FKF Premier League games returned on Tuesday with another six games set to take place on Wednesday.

The talk of the town has been the top-of-the-table clash between Nzoia Sugar FC and Gor Mahia but there are more enticing matches including that of Ulinzi Stars and Kakamega Homeboyz which promises to bring fireworks at the Ulinzi Complex.

Sofapaka v Mathare United (Kasarani Annex 1pm)

The winner of this tie in each of the last five meetings has scored 2 (+) goals; the tie having only two goalless draws since Sofapaka’s promotion to the top flight in 2009.

Sofapaka’s four wins in their first 17 games is their worst start to a league campaign since 2016 (2W/17G) where they missed relegation by virtue of having a better goal difference (to Ushuru FC who had the same 26 points)

KCB v Talanta FC (Kasarani Annex, 3:15pm)

In their nine meetings (in both NSL and the Premier League), FC Talanta has only beaten KCB once., the bankers winning six with the other two games ending in draws.

While KCB remains the only team yet to lose an away game this season, they are sitting 12th in the HOME form table after picking just 2 wins and losing 4 when they are the hosts.

Nzoia Sugar v Gor Mahia (Sudi Stadium, 3pm)

Just like Mathare, Nzoia has been a bogey team for Gor Mahia and has only lost once to the Johnny McKinstry side in their last five encounters (2W, 2D, 1L); the Salim Babu side scoring in four of those fixtures.

Overally, the teams have met 13 times in the top-flight league since Nzoia’s promotion in 2017. Gor Mahia winning 8 to Nzoia’s 3, two games ending in draws. The last Gor Mahia away win at Nzoia came on 2nd October 2019 with goals from Kenneth Muguna and Clifton Miheso being the difference.

Nzoia remains one of the two teams yet to lose a home game this season (the other being Tusker FC) but that will be put to test against a Gor Mahia side who have only lost once in their travels
