The FKF Premier League tie between Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards has been abandoned after 354 minutes due to crowd trouble.

The game had a hallmark of a derby with droves of fans making their presence known early around Kakamega town and the earlier proceedings didn’t disappoint too. While Leopards had a good number in the stands, Homeboyz didn’t feel intimidated and almost got the lead in the 14th minute when keeper Levis Opiyo misjudged an effort only for the keeper to react and tip the effort for a fruitless corner.

Homeboyz efforts were o pay in the 24th minute when Hillary Otieno gave them the lead and things seemed to have been going on well until the 34th minute when the referee was forced to halt the game due to crowd trouble.

Leopards fans had claimed that the center referee was biased after he failed to book Faruk Shikhalo for handling the ball outside his box. The agitation saw the fans in blue storm the pitch with the police forced to enter the venue and calm the situation where fans were dispersed; the game was forced to be called off after a long standoff.

It remains to be seen the action Football Kenya Federation will take on the game with Leopards currently placed 6th and Homeboyz 11th.
