Police FC were backed to be one of the title favorites when the FKF Premier League kicked off for the 2022/23 season owing to the signings they made late last year.

While they started off badly, a streak that saw them sack Sammy Omolo, the arrival of Francis Baraza immediately steadied the ship and all had been going well until recently with the club only registering two wins in their last eight games; the wins coming against City Stars and Vihiga Bullets who have been doing poorly this season.

Police latest loss came at the hands of Gor Mahia and according to Baraza in his post-match interview, the number of games they are playing in a week has taken a toll on his players.

“Its been tough owing to the league schedule. You must have a strong team in order to cope with the demands of this league. You find yourself playing today, traveling tomorrow and have to play another game the next day. The players are rarely resting and we are barely having proper training for games,” Baraza said.

On his loss against Gor Mahia, the tactician added: “I started the game with players that had given us a result in our last game (against Vihiga Bullets) and tried to rotate the squad in the second half. With the schedule, you must find a balance to ensure that you give rest to players who have played more and give a chance to other players too. I want to believe we gave our best but God had planned differently.”

There is no rest for Police who are placed fifth as they travel to Mombasa to face Bandari FC on Wednesday in their next game.
