Gor Mahia head coach Johnny McKinstry has denied reports that had linked the club with midfielder Tyson Otieno.
The ex Kariobangi Sharks midfielder was one of the hottest properties in the transfer window and has since been snapped by Police FC despite being heavily linked with a move to the FKF Premier League Champions.

In in an interview with journalist Jeff Kinyanjui, McKinstry said:” We never inquired about Tyson (Otieno). Tyson is a player who we respect massively. He’s got talent but when you build a football team you must pick the right pieces so for us we didn’t just see where a player like Tyson would work in our midfield. We have Austin who has been fantastic and I just didn’t see how both would play together in a well-balanced midfield.

“Maybe if you are playing against a weaker opponent, then we could play lots of flair players in midfield but for us, we like what Austin and the guys behind him are doing. We are going to add players in midfield but Tyson wasn’t a player we enquired about.”
The Irishman further denied reports linking them with former City Stars defender Kennedy ‘Vidic’ Onyango who was said to have arrived at the club as a replacement for Dennis Nganga.
“We haven’t had any negotiations with him,” McKinstry said when asked about the player.
The tactician further revealed that they were working on Austin Odhiambo’s contract and were confident that they would secure his services on a longer deal.
