Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has locked Presidential aspirant Hussein Mohammed from attending the forthcoming delegate conference.

Hussein is one of the candidates who have expressed interest in unseating Nick Mwendwa from the Federation’s top seat but he won’t be part of the conference as the Federation deems him ineligible to represent FKF Premier League side Murang’a Seal who had fronted him as their representative.

“We are in receipt of your correspondence dated March 5, 2024, nominating Mr Hussein Mohammed as Murang’a Seal FC’s delegate in the upcoming FKF Congress,” FKF said in a communication released on Monday.

“Following a comprehensive review of the registration documents and other details thereof regarding Murang’a Seal FC submitted in compliance with Articles L02 and L03 of the FKF Club Licensing Regulations and Article 54 and 55 of the CAF Men’s Club Licensing Regulations (2022), attached of your reference, we would like to inform you that Mr. Hussein Mohammed is not registered with FKF as a member of Murang’a Seal FC of FKF in general. In accordance with Article 11 of the FKF Constitution, and Article 8.1.4 of the FKF Rules and Regulations Governing Kenyan Football (2019)

“In light of the aforementioned, Mr. Hussein Mohammed is therefore ineligible to represent Murang’a Seal FC in the upcoming Annual General Meeting.

“Furthermore, it is important to note that based on the documents submitted during the Club Licensing registration process, Murang’a Seal is formally registered as Murang’a Sports Excellence Academy Limited. Mr. Robert Kenneth Wanyoike Macharia is identified as the sole director of this entity, which is duly recognized as Murang’a Seal FC for the purpose of FKF activities.”

The move is likely to bar Hussein from vying in the upcoming football election as it is required that anyone who wants to unseat Mwendwa must have been active in football for three of the last four years before being proposed as a candidate.

Apart from Hussein, the other candidates who have expressed interest is sending Mwendwa home are former Harambee Stars striker Dennis Oliech, Bandari’s Twaha Mbarak. Former CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye, Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ocholla, Tom Alila, Sammy ‘Kempes’ Owino and ex FKF boss Sam Nyamweya.
