For the better part of the first leg, Posta Rangers exchanged the top position with Gor Mahia in the FKF Premier League but recent performances has seen the John Kamau men drop further down the table.

The Mail Men are currently placed fifth on the league table having won just one of their last five games and conceding nine goals in their last two games something that the coach has blamed on injuries to his key players.

“Football can be very cruel. We have some key players out with an injury but that should not be an excuse (for losing heavily) because we have 30 registered players who should be filling the gaps perfectly. Bernard Ondiek is injured and Njau (John) is out with a red card so we have been less in some departments,” Kamau said after their 5-1 drubbing at the hands of Kariobangi Sharks.

The setback has seen the tactician welcome the two-week break-the league takes a rest for international football-as he thinks he will give his boys the needed time to reset and finish the season strongly.

“The international break comes at a good time because it will give us more time to prepare and hopefully have our injured players back but the most important thing is we need to keep on fighting. We are going to self-evaluate during the break and I have given them a one-week rest hoping that they can come back strong mentally as we look to recover from those two heavy losses,” he added.

After the break, Rangers have a date against struggling Shabana who will be hoping to bounce back too from their disastrous form.
