Tusker FC beat FKF Premier League rivals AFC Leopards 3-1 in a friendly match staged at the Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday morning.

Both teams were using the tie to be fit as the league takes a two-week break to allow for the FIFA International break where both teams have contributed players to the national team Harambee Stars ahead of their four Nations Cup tournament in Malawi later in the month.

Tusker goals were scored by Deogratious Ojok, Lawrence Luvanda and Eric Kapaito with Leopards consolation coming from Brian Yakhama.

The game was played in a unique format, with three 40-minute periods, as both coaches used the opportunity to test the depths of their squads and different systems of play.

The result comes just a week after the Robert Matano side beat Ingwe 1-0 in a league encounter to climb to second on the FKF Premier League log where they are now seven points below leaders Gor Mahia.

After the International break, Tusker has a date with Kariobangi Sharks with AFC Leopards, who are currently placed 8th on the table with 34 points, having a date with Sofapaka FC.

Elsewhere, Gor thumped Thika Cloth Mills FC 6-1 in another friendly game played on Saturday at the Mpesa Foundation Grounds, Thika. Gor goals were bagged by Lawrence Juma, Chris Ochieng’, Rogers Ouma, Austin Odhiambo and a brace from Boniface Omondi.

The Johnny McKinstry side have a tricky test against Kakamega Homeboyz FC when the league resumes.
