Shabana FC boosted their chances of remaining in the FKF Premier League after beating Muhoroni Youth 2-1 in a game staged at Jomo Kenyatta Grounds in Kisumu on Monday afternoon.

Muhoroni who are in the playoff position were to take a first-half lead through Lucky Ochieng but the Sammy Omolo-coached side turned the tie later in the second half with two quickfire goals.

Mathews Tegisi was to restore parity for the visitors 14 minutes from time with Enock Agwanda popping up with what proved to be the winner four minutes later from the penalty spot.

While Shabana are still placed second from the bottom, they are now just a point below Muhoroni who occupies the 16th spot. Shabana will be hoping for the same results as they host Kakamega Homeboyz in their next outing as Muhoroni will be out to right the wrongs when they travel to Central Kenya to take on Murang’a Seal.

On Saturday, there were mixed results as FC Talanata beat Tusker FC 3-2 to dent Robert Matano’s hopes of wrestling the title from Gor Mahia with AFC Leopards beating Posta Rangers 1-0 with both matches played at the Kenyatta Stadium Machakos.

Leopards all-important goal was notched home by former Rangers captain Ken Owino who joined the den in the short midseason transfer window; the goal being his first for the club.
